Body image, body dissatisfaction and weight status in south asian children: a cross-sectional study

The finding that self image perception is associated with weight status only in girls implies that they may be more aware of their body shape than boys at this age, although overweight and obese boys and girls appear to suffer similar levels of body dissatisfaction. The association between increasing weight status and body dissatisfaction found in this study has been little explored in such young children in the past.
