Lateral Tarsal Strip
The lateral tarsal strip (LTS) is a useful oculoplastic procedure that shortens the lower lid without distorting the lateral canthal angle or causing horizontal.
This is probably the most traditional approach, to do a lateral tarsal strip and tighten it. It's like tightening a clothesline that has too many clothes.
Description:Lateral tarsal strip fixation is the technique which is widely used to repair involutional ectropion due to horizontal lid laxity. This is placed in the periosteum posterior to the lateral orbital rim. A lateral canthotomy is performed with either the needle tip cautery or a 15 blade. This technique gives a normal appearance to the lateral canthal angle and has yielded good results in 51 cases.
